Traffic restrictions put in place for Ulsoor’s Poo Pallaki festival
This Pallaki, is going to be used for the road show during the Ulsoor Pallakki Utsav.
These restrictions on vehicular movement will be in force from 5pm on April 11 till the conclusion of the festival on April 12 evening.
With the car festival of Someshwara temple and Kamakashamma temple set to begin on April 11, people should be ready for restrictions on vehicular movement in various parts of Ulsoor.
In view of the festival, the traffic police have restricted the movement of all types of vehicles from Bylaanjaneya Temple on Swami Vivekananda Road towards Trinity Circle. Vehicles have been prohibited from coming towards Ramaiah Junction from Begum Mahal Junction via Ulsoor Road. Vehicles coming from Cambridge Road 1st Cross Junction towards Ramaiah Junction have also been barred.
The traffic department has restricted the movement of vehicles from Ulsoor-Jogupalya Junction towards Swami Vivekananda Road Junction. Vehicles have also been prohibited from Kamadhenu Junction towards Ramaiah Junction, from Jogupalya `G’ Street.
Alternative routes
All vehicles going towards Byappanayalli, Indiranagar, Jeevan Bhima Nagar and Krishnarajapuram have to pass through Kensington Road and Murphy Road to reach Swami Vivekananda Road or Old Madras Road. Similarly, all vehicles coming from Indiranagar, Jeevan Bhima Nagar, Krishnarajapuram and other adjoining areas have to pass through Kensington Road, Madras Engineering Group (MEG) Gate, Annaswamy Mudaliyar Road and Dickenson Road to reach Mahatma Gandhi Road. Vehicles coming from Begum Mahal Junction towards Bazaar Street have to pass through Gurudwara Junction, Yellamma Temple Street, Murphy Street and Tamarai Kannan Street.
These restrictions will be in force from 5pm on April 11 till the conclusion of the festival on April 12 evening.
The car festival is the biggest annual event of the year in Ulsoor. During April or May, the temple organises the famous Ulsoor Pallakki Utsav, with a special car or Pallaki for Kamakshamma. The Pallaki is a car decorated with jasmine buds, its fragrance heady in the summer heat. Once a year, people from all around the city come to visit the historic Someshwara temple.
