Two women ended their life in the city on New Year’s day. Reethu, 22, hanged herself from a ceiling fan in Kumarswamy Layout. Reethu hails from Assam and was staying with her boyfriend Charu Kamal, a student. Kamal and Reethu celebrated New Year’s Eve at home and slept around 2am. After Kamal fell asleep, Reethu hanged herself. The motive for her suicide is unknown, said the police.
In another incident, a 22-year-old homemaker committed suicide in her house on Sunday. The deceased, Kavita, hanged herself in her house, said the police, adding that her husband Madhusudhan, an alcoholic, used to harass her.
The incident came to light when the house owner called on Kavita.
When her repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, she peeped through the window to see Kavita hanging.
