‘I walk, I talk, I sing, I dance, I question, I create, I think, therefore I am’— that’s what Unmaad 2011 is about.

The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) will be hosting the Unmaad 2011, a three-day fest that will see colleges from across the country battling in several competitions like fine arts, dance, dramatics, and music. The event will be held at IIMB between January 21 and 23.

“The unique feature of our event is that it is open to students from all colleges, be it students pursing their graduation or postgraduation,” said V Harikumar, a second-year student from IIMB, adding that over 100 colleges across India have already confirmed their participation at the fest.

The theme ‘Therefore I Am’ is the highlight of the  fest. “We want to celebrate each person’s individuality and encourage students to bring out their hidden talents, as well as give them a chance to express themselves in their own unique way,” he said.

As a curtain-raiser to the event, an ‘India Inspired’ conclave will be held, where speakers are being invited from across the country to discuss how certain situations in India can be improved.

Bangalore-based band Thermal And A Quarter (TAAQ) will be playing. The attractions of Unmaad 2011 include ‘The B School of Rock’, a rock competition which will be headlined by Fire on Dawson, a rock band from Germany who will be playing for the first time in Bangalore. Apart from professional shows, all major college events will be held. Arul Mani, from the Karnataka Quiz Association, will be hosting the annual open quiz. Band Indian Oceans will also be performing.

As a finale, a grand choreography competition and fashion show will conclude the three-day long fest.
