Many years ago, Shah Rukh Khan had revealed the real reason why he would attend award shows. The actor said that he does not care about the money or fruits of his labour, but it is vital to him because the superstar felt like he could communicate with his parents.
For the uninformed, Shah Rukh Khan's father died at a very young age and his mother passed away right before SRK became an actor. Since then, he had just one dream - to become a superstar and make his late parents proud.
However Shah Rukh Khan misses sharing the moment with his parents, which he revealed while talking about the real reason he attends award shows.
Here it is:
"I go to award shows and film functions not because I will get an award, or will get money or lakhs and crores of people will be able to watch me - I don’t need it," Shah Rukh was heard saying.
He added, "When I had come to Mumbai for the first time, I had said, 'I come here because there is a very big stage, I want to reach out to my parents through that stage'. Because my parents are very far away."
Despite having the best of everything, SRK feels the need to come out in the open for one reason - so his parents can hear him.
"There are times when I want to look up to them and tell them, 'Mom, dad, I made it very big and I wish you were here to see this'. If I say that from the environs of my house or just from my studios, maybe they won’t be able to hear me," the actor was heard saying.
"So I come out into this open so that I can see one of the stars who is my mom and one of my stars who is my father and they can look down upon me and feel very happy," he shared.
