Varun Dhawan spilled that meeting Sara Ali Khan back when 'Student of The Year' released was quite awkward and she revealed why

Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan were all decked up to present 'Coolie No 1' through a trailer launch event. They both flew down to Chandigarh to attend the event. While talking about themselves and the movie, Varun happened to open a box of memories - of when he first met Sara.

Varun said that he met Sara a few days after 'Student of The Year' released, when she was just a kid. He said, "There was this little girl who entered the lift with me. Now there is no network in the lift but she kept on talking on her mobile phone."

"I was left wondering what is she doing, how can she talk on the phone when there is no network in the lift. That girl I'm talking about, was Sara Ali Khan," he spilled.

In response, Sara said that she was nervous about meeting him. "I was, still am your big fan. I could not believe that I was in the same elevator as Varun Dhawan and I didn't know how to face you," she said.

In the end, Varun said that everything is good between them. "Now we're friends," Sara shared.

While introducing Sara to the stage, Varun said she was her friend, partner and co-star. He also said that Sara stopped her shoot mid-way to come and join them in Chandigarh for the live event, which is happening for the first time since lockdown.

Varun made his debut in 2012 with Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year'. On the other hand, Sara made her debut in Bollywood back in 2018 opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Abhishek Kapoor's 'Kedarnath'.

The year 2020, however, has been tough for both Varun and Sara since their names have been mired in controversies.

Varun became a target after netizens called him a nepotistic kid. Sara, on the other hand, has often been trolled for celebrating Hindu festivals. She was also called a nepotistic kid and came under the radar after her interrogation by the NCB, where she was believed to have been involved in taking drugs. It was an angle that the agency was questioning on following SSR's untimely death on June 14, 2020.
