Sharib Hashmi is a cinema-lover, a true filmistani, and he proved his worth time and again. Apart from giving scene-stealer performances in films such as Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Darbaan, Paglait, and Vikram Vedha, Sharib earned a new fanbase by playing JK Talpade in The Family Man. In 1997, Sharib used to work as a door-to-door salesman and sold Aquaguard water purifiers. While promoting his upcoming show 36 Days, Sharib revealed to DNA India that his first salary was Rs 1600 per month.

Sharib has a knack for writing, and that's why he started working as a writer with Channel V for a year and then worked in MTV for four years. These experiences helped him to understand the film industry inside out.

After Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Sharib led several independent films, including Filmistaan, Badmashiyaan, and Phullu. He also proved his acting chops by playing the supporting lead in films such as Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Vikram Vedha, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, and Fighter.

In the conversation, Sharib revealed that he was not inclined towards acting, but after Slumdog Millionaire, he decided to quit his job. However, after Sharib decided to dedicate his career to craft, he struggled for three years, took several auditions, got rejected multiple times, and then got Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

With the boom of OTT, Sharib also became a star after he played JK Talpade in the crime thriller series The Family Man. His camaraderie with Manoj Bajpayee was praised by the fans, and JK became an integral part of the series. On the work front, he will soon be seen in Sony Liv's crime thriller 36 Days.
