Ritu Shivpuri married an entrepreneur Hari Venkat and they have three kids. At 36, her husband was diagnosed with a tumour in his spine, and that left him bedridden. To take care of her husband, Ritu put her career on the back burner. Ritu reportedly left many projects, to look after Hari and the kids. In an interview with the Times of India, Ritu said, "It was a difficult phase, but he fought it and recovered in a couple of years. He considers me his backbone and derives his strength from me."
