The rise of Aditya Roy Kapur...
Aditya Roy Kapur wears his stardom casually. Despite being in Bollywood for a decade, the young actor has retained an air of mystery around himself; something that has proved irresistible, especially for his female fans. Another aspect that adds to his mystique is that he usually maintains a low profile. He comes out in the public domain only during the release of his films.
And, believe us when we say that his performance in the multi-starrer period drama, Kalank, came as a revelation. He played his suave, rich, publisher act with great finesse. Despite the ensemble cast, ARK managed to not only stand his ground with a good performance but he also stole a little bit of thunder from some of his fellow actors. It’s only natural that audiences were rooting for this tall, fair and handsome guy, who turned in a sensitive performance. Social media has been abuzz ever since, and the way things are poised, the 33-year-old has loads to look forward to.
In his next, he teams up with his Kalank co-actor Alia Bhatt. They will start filming Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2, for which the filmmaker will don the director’s hat after a long time.
The actor is also collaborating with Mohit Suri on Malang, which stars Anil Kapoor, Disha Patani and Kunal Kemmu. The trade is excited about this one because it brings together the dream team of Mohit and Aditya after their previous blockbuster Aashiqui 2 (2013).
He is also part of Anurag Basu’s untitled next, which releases in January 2020. Says a trade source, “Aditya has always received encouraging reviews. But with Kalank, he has become an actor to reckon with. He is being watched closely because he is in an exciting phase of his career. As of now, he looks slated for good things because he’s working with some of the best filmmakers. Also, he has a couple of author-backed roles. They should give him an edge.”
