'Uri The Surgical Strike' Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushal's film shows 51% growth on Day 2, earns Rs 20.63 Cr

'Uri' earned Rs 8.20 crore on its opening day. It saw a remarkable growth on Saturday and collected Rs 12.43 crore. Today, it stands at a total of Rs 20.63 crore.

Vicky described the feeling as surreal after 'Uri' was accepted by the audience."Till the film is released, you don't have an idea if it is going to work. But since yesterday, the kind of reaction we have received is really overwhelming. It's a surreal feeling that audience has accepted our film with open arms," the actor told media. 

Uri' makes it clear from the word go as to which political party it caters to and makes no secret of it. The fact that it got released ahead of 2019 elections, has made many label it as a propaganda film.

However Vicky, in an interview with IANS, called the surgical strikes "something we all are proud of". He also refuted allegations that it glorifies the ruling party and said, "Aditya Dhar, the director and writer of the film, is very passionate about army, and he has made this film as a tribute to the army and nobody else.

Yami Gautam plays the character of an intelligence officer, Pallavi Sharma, in the film. “There is nothing larger than life about it (the role). The whole idea was to keep it as real as possible. At the same time, there were some lines where I had to be very specific as the information gathered by an intelligence officer is specific and you can’t improvise on that,” she said in an interview. 

Vicky praised his co-actors and director Aditya Dhar for being part of the film. "I am really happy for the actors and director of the film because it is Adtiya's (Dhar) first film as a director," he said.

"In today's age, it is very difficult for a debutant director to get backing from producers for the story and then get a huge release for his film. Ultimately, when audience appreciates the film then, it's really special thing for the entire team," said Vicky.
