Director Remo D’souza has spared no effort in making the third instalment of this pacy thriller series an action spectacle, with producers Ramesh Taurani and Salman Khan backing his vision all the way.
Here’s what makes this film, which stars Salman, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Saqib Saleem and Daisy Shah, a must-watch this festive season...
Thrills across locations
The film has been extensively shot in Abu Dhabi in a marathon 35-day schedule. Most of the action sequences were supervised by stunt coordinator Tom Struthers, who is known for his work in Hollywood films like The Dark Knight (2008), The Inception (2010), and X-Men: First Class (2011). Joining Tom was Indian fight master Anal Arasu, who helmed the kickboxing and hand-to-hand combat sequences. The team also shot at the Floating Market and Rose Garden in Bangkok, the jungles of Kanchanaburi province in Thailand and Leh-Ladakh in India.
High-octane action
With Salman top lining Race 3, the film’s makers promise bigger and better action sequences. The thrills are an interesting mix involving weaponry, unarmed combats and chase sequences. All the artistes have done their own stunts. Jacqueline learnt mixed martial arts while Daisy worked on her agility. Bobby prepped hard for his beefy avatar and Saqib trained for raw action scenes. Anil, too, extensively trained in weapon-welding skills.
3D twist
The thriller will release in both 2D and 3D formats. The makers assure that this will be huge as India hasn’t witnessed an action thriller in 3D with an A-list actor in the lead role.
Super cars
The film will showcase as many as 60 super cars comprising Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Maserati. Reportedly, brand new vehicles were blown to smithereens. A portion of the movie was also shot on a Formula 1 race track.
Salman’s larger-than-life entry
A self-confessed fan of Salman’s aura, the director has envisaged a larger-than-life action sequence to mark the superstar’s introductory scene.
Race 3 releases on June 15.
