A.R Rahman congratulates R Madhavan for Rocketry's National Award win, calls his film 'better than' Oppenheimer

A.R Rahman congratulated R Madhavan for his debut directorial Rocketry: The Nambi Effect for winning the Best Feature National Award, and even called his film better than Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

R Madhavan has won national honour with his debut directorial, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, and now music composer A.R Rahman called Madhavan's film better than Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. At the 69th National Film Awards, Rocketry won the Best Feature Film award, and A.R Rahman congratulated R Madhavan for the same. 

On Friday, A.R Rahman took his thoughts about the achievement to Twitter, and wrote, "Congrats Madhavan….I still remember the impact of your movie watching at Cannes … have to confess now (great timing)… I liked yours better than #Oppenheimer."

Christopher Nolan-directed Oppenheimer is an American psychological drama based on the life of the Father of the Atom Bomb, physicist J Robert Oppenheimer who was played by Cillian Murphy. 

While congratulating R. Madhavan, A.R Rahman shared an old tweet of him praising Rocketry after watching it at the Cannes Film Festival. In the old tweet, Rahman shared a photo of R Madhavan posing with the real Dr. Nambi Narayan. In his old tweet, A.R Rahman wrote, "Just watched #Rocketrythenambieffect at Cannes ..Take a bow @ActorMadhavan for bringing a new voice to Indian cinema #changeishere #respecttoIndianscientists."

On Thursday, the winners of the 69th National Awards were announced. Hindi film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the National Award for Best Feature Film while Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the Best Actress prize for their roles in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. South superstar Allu Arjun was judged the best actor for the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise. The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, also won the Nargis Dutt Award for best film on national integration. The award for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment went to the Telugu version of the multilingual film RRR. The National Awards for 2021 were announced by filmmaker Ketan Mehta who headed the 11-member jury. The awards announcement was streamed live on the PIB YouTube channel.
