Aamir Khan is all set to step into the shoes of legendary Hollywood actor Tom Hanks in the Hindi remake of 1994 film Forrest Gump. The Bollywood film is titled Laal Singh Chaddha and it's also Aamir's character name. The superstar bought the rights of the film from Paramount Pictures and made an official announcement on his birthday this year. Aamir had also revealed that he has always been obsessed with Forrest Gump. Laal Singh Chaddha will be directed by Advait Chandan of Secret Superstar fame and written by Atul Kulkarni.
Now, the makers have finally announced the release date of the film. The statement read as, "Viacom18 Studios is happy to announce Christmas 2020 as the release date of Aamir Khan Productions' Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni." The film will be shot in North India, mostly in New Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and the adjacent areas. Aamir visited Dharamshala last week as a part of the recce.
If everything falls into a place, Laal Singh Chaddha is likely to clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer Krissh 4 on Christmas 2020.
Talking about Forrest Gump, based on Winston Groom’s novel by the same name, the Robert Zemeckis film stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright and Sally Field. The story follows the life of Forrest Gump (Hanks), a man with low IQ but a heart of gold and how he witnesses defining events in the history of the United States such as the Vietnam War and Watergate scandal, etc.
