Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The project, which was supposed to reunite the real-life couple on screen after eight years, has been pushed indefinitely

It was in 2010 that Abhishek Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared screen space for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. Since then, there have been many filmmakers who have wanted to get the two actors to star in a film together. And just when it looked like the real-life couple had finally found a script to their liking, their on-screen reunion has been delayed further.

Reveals a source, “Abhi-Ash were in talks for a film with Shailesh R Singh. While Abhi was already on board, discussions were on with Ash and her team for the same. The real-life couple would’ve reunited on screen after eight long years. But the movie has supposedly been put on the back burner. In fact, the project has been pushed ahead indefinitely.”

The stars were supposed to essay the role of a husband-wife, who are top cops. The script, which is inspired by a true story, showed them stuck in a political situation.

Waiting for the reunion

Our source explains, “Ash is choosy about her projects. She had some issues with the script and wanted a few changes, which had not happened. Meanwhile, she signed another film (the remake of Raat Aur Din). Abhishek also took up a few movies. Since the whole idea was to get Abhi and Ash together on screen, once she backed out, he too found the whole thing pointless. There were budget issues as well.” Guess, the audience will have to wait for some more time to see the Bachchan jodi back on the silver screen!
