It looks like Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu (BGMC) was meant to release with another film also coming on the same day. Initially slated to open in cinemas on August 31, its release was moved first to September 14, the same day as Kajol’s next, Helicopter Eela, helmed by Pradeep Sarkar. But since the latter’s producer, Ajay Devgn has done a few films with BGMC producer Bhushan Kumar and has a couple of more collaborations with him, the Shree Narayan Singh directed social drama was moved to September 21. However, now, Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal film will also release on the same day.
The Aanand L Rai-backed movie helmed by Anurag Kashyap was first looking to come on September 7. But apparently, Abhishek wasn’t keen to clash with his debut film Refugee’s (2000) director JP Dutta’s Paltan, that is backed by Zee Studios. Moreover, Bachchan Jr didn’t want his movie to open in cinemas on the same day as good friend Ajay’s Helicopter Eela either.
But there are only 52 odd Fridays in a year and some or the other clash is bound to happen. So, as of now, Manmarziyaan will clash will BGMC on September 21.
