Ever since Ajay Devgn dubbed for SS Rajamouli’s Makkhi (the Hindi version of Eega) in 2012, the actor’s fans have been keen to see him collaborate with the maverick filmmaker.
Now, their wait finally seems to be over. After Hrs has learnt that the National Award-winning actor has given a nod to the Baahubali director’s next project tentatively titled RRR.
AJAY’S EXTENDED APPEARANCE
Much like Rohit Shetty’s Simmba last year, the Golmaal Again actor will be seen in an interesting cameo in RRR, too. Says a source close to the actor, “Rajamouli was looking for a popular Indian superstar, who would also cater to the Hindi-speaking audience. Ajay has an extended guest role and his character will have an impact on the plot. He was the first choice and when the filmmaker approached him for the part, he heard it and gave a go-ahead.”
MEGA-BUDGET PERIOD DRAMA
Rajamouli’s last franchise Baahubali had broken several records at the global box office and it turned out to be the highest-grossing Indian film ever. RRR, too, has been planned on a lavish budget. The source informs, “Along with Ajay, the film has two of the biggest stars from the South Indian film industry — Ram Charan Teja and NT Rama Rao Jr. The makers are mounting the actioner on a grand scale. It will be made on a budget of over Rs 350 crore.” For Ajay, it will be his second big period saga, after Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. “He will shoot for his part around mid-2019,” adds our source.
