Akshay Kumar recalls his interaction with late Sardar Jaswant Singh Gill before Mission Raniganj: 'He was so...'

While interacting with students of the Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, Akshay Kumar recalled his experience of speaking to the late Sardar Jaswant Singh Gill over the phone.

Akshay Kumar will soon bring another unsung hero on the big screen with Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue. Tinu Suresh Desai's directorial celebrates the late Sardar Jaswant Singh's life and his valour in saving the lives of 65 miners from a 1989 coal mine accident. 

Recently, Akshay Kumar attended a virtual conference that took place at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, where Jaswant Singh Gill graduated. Akshay engaged with the students and discussed the life and contributions of the late Jaswant Singh Gill. He also talked about celebrating the lives of unsung heroes through the big screen. 

During the conference, Akshay narrated that he had the opportunity of speaking to Jaswant Singh when he was alive. Akshay said, "A few years ago when Jaswantji was alive, I had the opportunity to speak to him on the phone. He was so humble, simple, and down to earth that it was genuinely an honour talking to him. There's so much truth and sacrifice in the inspiring stories of such unsung heroes that I would like to keep making films like that and tell today's youth about such great visionaries." Akshay further stated that as an actor, he really loves working on such inspirational stories that need to be told.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, the movie also stars Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt and Omkar Das Manikpuri.

The film is slated for theatrical release on October 6, 2023. The movie promises to offer audiences an inspiring and memorable cinematic experience that pays homage to the unsung heroes of India's past.
