Akshay Kumar’s spokesperson has reacted to reports that the actor is helping out colleague Sunny Deol pay off a Rs 56 crore loan to save his bungalow. Sunny’s bungalow was reportedly being sold off by the bank for non-repayment of loan. However, that notice has now been withdrawn and reports had claimed that Akshay had some role to play in the development.
News reports had claimed that Sunny’s Juhu bungalow was set for auction by the bank due to unpaid loans totalling Rs 56 crore. Later, some reports suggested that Akshay Kumar had come to Sunny’s aid, helping him pay the loan and Sunny would repay him after some time. However, Akshay’s spokesperson has now denied the reports, calling the claims ‘absolutely untrue’. Sunny Deol’s representative has also called the reports ‘completely untrue and false’, as per a report in Etimes.
Notably, the bank has now withdrawn the auction notice, just a day after it was published in some of the leading dailies of the country. Citing a ‘technical glitch’, the bank issued a corrigendum on Monday that stated, “Corrigendum to E AuctionSale Notice dated 19.08.2023 published in The Times of India Mumbai Edition (Pg.3) dated 20.08.2023 with regards to Sale Notice in respect of Mr. Ajay Singh Deol Alias Mr.Sunny Deol Stands Withdrawn due to Technical Reasons for the below mentioned Property.”
The reports came at a time when both Sunny and Akshay have seen release of successful films. Sunny’s Gadar 2 and Akshay’s OMG 2 both released in theatres on August 11. While Gadar 2 has emerged as one of the most successful Hindi films ever, OMG 2 has also done decent business. Gadar 2 is Sunny’s first solo hit in over two decades while OMG 2 has come for Akshay after a string of flops stretching back two years.
