While reflecting back at the year gone by, the co-founder of Microsoft Bill Gates listed out inspirational moments of 2017 and Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar's film 'Toiler Ek Prem Katha' made it to this list.
To end the year on a positive note, the 62-year-old, on Tuesday, put together a series of inspirational stories and tweets of things that happened in 2017. He said, "There's no denying that 2017 was a really tough year... but it also delivered some amazing moments of hope and progress."
Talking about the flick, Gates praised the fact it had educated audiences on the crisis, which sees one in 10 deaths in India linked to poor hygiene.
The lead actress of Toilet Ek Prem Katha thanked Gates for recognising their effort. Bhumi took to Twitter and wrote, "#Toiletekpremkatha is our contribution towards ending a practice that effects a very large population of the world. We truly hope #OpenDefecation will be a thing of the past.To a brighter and better world."
The movie deals with the menace of open defecation and is based on a real-life incident wherein a woman left her husband after finding out that there was no toilet in their house.
Toilet Ek Prem Katha not just gives out an important social message but also marks Akki's eighth 100-crore blockbuster.
