Bollywood may be replete with multi-starrers, but a movie with an all-female cast is a rarity. A case in point is Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding that also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, which releases this year.
Except for Udta Punjab, which featured Bebo in an integral role, Alia Bhatt has never been part of a multi-heroine project. However, she wants to do one, now. The actress says, “I’ve never been offered such a movie. I haven’t rejected a film because it was a two-heroine outing. Instead, I want to do something which has only women. I think we will have amazing camaraderie and it will be a fun film.”
The A-list star is friends with a number of heroines in the industry. Ask her who she wants to act with, and she responds, “Katrina (Kaif) is one of my closest friends, so we keep talking about doing a film. It’s the same with Deepika (Padukone). It will be amazing to act in a movie with such powerful women. I’ve made a pact with Kat and DP that we will do films together.” Katrina, too, had earlier told us that she wants to do a remake of Thelma & Louise (1991) with Alia.
The petite actress feels times are changing for women in the industry. “It has become progressive for actresses today. But, there’s still a long way to go. The best thing is that now, they are standing by each other. For instance, imagine Dil Chahta Hai being remade with three girls today. It would be wonderful. I’m game for a good chick flick,” says the Raazi star.
