Bollywood actress Ananya Panday, who was last seen in 'Khaali Peeli' opposite Ishaan Khattar, recently opened up about being body-shamed.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the 'Liger' actor said that people used to say she looked like a boy and often addressed her with terms like 'flat-screen', in a reference to her assets. Ananya expressed how the mean comments and nasty remarks led her to doubt herself.
Daughter of actor Chunky Panday and Bhavna Panday, Ananya was in the media limelight even before she set foot in the entertainment industry. In her new interview, she also opened up about the first time she began getting trolled and the effect it had on her.
"I don't remember the exact time but I remember there used to be pictures of me with my parents. At that time, I wasn't an actor. I would go out with my parents and as I said, I was very thin. People used to say I look like a boy, a flatscreen and all those kinds of things," she told Bollywood Bubble in a video interview.
She added, "At that time, it did hurt because those are the times when you are forming your self-confidence and you are learning to love yourself. And then, when you feel like someone else is pulling you down, you start doubting yourself, the way you look, and everything. But I feel like now, slowly, I am reaching a point where I am just focussing on accepting myself."
She further added, "If that is sorted and that is my foundation then nothing can hurt me since I am at peace with myself and I love myself. I am not saying it has happened. It is an ongoing process but I feel this realisation is more important than what anyone else says."
For the unversed, in 2019, Ananya had launched an initiative 'So Positive', to tackle cyberbullying.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Anaya will be next seen in Shakun Batra's next alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Deepika Padukone. She also has 'Liger', opposite Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda.
