From the time it was announced, whiz director Shankar’s 2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar has been touted to be one of the most expensive films made in India. Reported to be made at a cost of about Rs 400 crore, the sequel to the director and the two super-stars’ Robot has been delayed due to high-end post-production work and a large number of special effects that are an important aspect of the sci-fi thriller.

The movie’s release date has already been changed a few times and it’s now said to be releasing on January 25 next year. Sources claim that the makers are going above and beyond to meet the new deadline and for this, they are sparing no expense in post-production and extensive VFX.

As much as he’s known for his technical wizardry, Shankar is also known to be a perfectionist as far as his movies are concerned. And to ensure that the final results are at par with international films, 2.0 producers are said to be spending about Rs 100 crores more on the this long-in-the-making Rajini-Akshay movie.
