Saaho and Kaappaan might be releasing on the same day

If the grapevine in Kollywood is anything to go by, Suriya’s action thriller Kaappaan and Prabhas' high-octane action adventure Saaho are likely to clash for the Independence Day weekend.

While Kaappaan is edging towards completion and the team is currently filming the final leg in Tanjore, Saaho is also in the same stage. Directed by KV Anand and produced by Lyca Productions, Kaappaan will feature Suriya in five different looks. Also starring Mohanlal, Arya, Sayyeshaa and Boman Irani, the makers are planning to the release the film, which has music composed by Harris Jayaraj, on August 15th for the Independence Day weekend.

Meanwhile, UV Creations is also looking at the same date to release their film, which is being made as a trilingual in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The team is currently shooting in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. Art director Sabu Cyril has recreated the eye-popping Bandra-Worli sea link for an action sequence for the film. However, sources say even if Saaho gets delayed, Kaappaan will definitely target the Independence Day weekend date since the film's theme goes in line with the occasion.

Directed by Sujeeth, Saaho has Shraddha Kapoor playing the lead heroine role. Neil Nitin Mukesh and Arun Vijay play important roles in the film, which has cinematography by Madhi. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composes the music for the film, whose Hindi rights have been already reportedly acquired by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
