There have been reports around the biopic of Sourav Ganguly, the iconic cricketer and former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in the past several months. Earlier, it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor has been chosen to play the former Indian captain in the film, but now it seems that the Brahmastra actor has been replaced.

When the Andhadhun actor was asked about the same in his recent interview with Pinkvilla, he said, "I'm not saying anything right now. We have to make an official announcement whenever and whatever that happens." From his answer, it seems that Ayushmann has indeed bagged the role.

Th film is expected to begin filming later this year. In May, a source was quoted telling IndiaToday.in, "Two directors and producers Ankur Garg and Luv Ranjan met Sourav at his Behala house on Friday. There is a detailed discussion about the film. It is heard that the two directors have recorded various incidents of Sourav Ganguly's life. The script writing has already finished. The screenplay contains many unknown stories of life as well as many interesting incidents."

"The director wants to enrich the spice of entertainment in the film made on Sourav's life to the audience, not just the recordings of BCCI president. Lots of things have been recorded from his close associates also. The various incidents are recorded and heard from Dada's wife Dona Ganguly too", the source had added.
