Kangana Ranaut

I know nothing about politics, so I will not take the plunge. I can be an influencer, but I don’t see myself in any other role, says Kangana

On March 3, Kangana Ranaut threw a party to celebrate the good box-office run of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. The powerhouse performer not only played the lead role but also helmed the period drama, which was backed by Zee Studios. Amidst the celebrations, she also expressed her happiness over the safe return of Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who has won millions of hearts with his act of bravery. Of late, the actress has been in the news for her biopic and likely plunge into politics.

Taking a few minutes off from the bash, the National Award winner said, “Yes, I am working on the idea of my biopic. However, it is not an immediate plan. I have to finish work on films like Mental Hai Kya (MHK, which will now release in May) and Panga before I embark on anything else. I may also direct another movie before I start a film based on my life. But yes, I will make the biopic for sure.”

ON RUMOURS OF HER JOINING POLITICS

When asked if there was any truth to the news of her foraying into politics, she clarified, “They are rumours. I know nothing about politics, so I will not take the plunge. I can be an influencer, but I don’t see myself in any other role.” She laughed and added, “I am happy being an actor and filmmaker in Hindi cinema. I’m creatively challenged and satisfied. Politics doesn’t interest me. Also, I am too straight an arrow to be able to fit into that field.”

ON MENTAL HAI KYA GETTING PUSHED

The actress pointed out, “Manikarnika is still running in theatres. I just felt that a March 29 release for yet another film of mine wasn’t advisable. Hence, my producers and I decided to push MHK to May.”
