Bollywood legend Sridevi passes away

This news comes as a shock for Indian film industry.

India's first ever female superstar, Sridevi, has passed away in Dubai, reports ANI. The actress was 54.

According to a report by Filmfare, Sridevi was attending a family wedding in Dubai, accompanied by her younger daughter Khushi and husband, film producer Boney Kapoor. This is where she suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

Her brother-in-law, actor Sanjay Kapoor, confirmed the news. "Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet," he told Indian Express

Her elder daughter, Janhvi couldn't attend the wedding because of her shooting schedule. 

Well-wishers of the family are rushing to Sridevi's house in Mumbai to be with her daughter.

Sridevi was known for her iconic roles in Hindi movies like Mr India, Chaalbaaz, Nagina, Sadma, and many more. She had over 275 acting credits to her name including those in regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

She started her child artist in Tamil movie industry. Built her career over the years and in 2013 was awarded Padmashri for her contribution to Indian cinema. 

When she became a mother for the first time with daughter Janhavi, she went away from the movie business. After 15 years of hiatus, she made a stellar comeback in Gauri Shinde's movie English Vinglish.

Her last Hindi movie was revenge thriller titled Mom.
