Boney Kapoor confirms securing 'Badhaai Ho' South Indian remake rights

Producer Boney Kapoor who launched director Amit Sharma, has now bought the South Indian language rights of the filmmaker's recent blockbuster Badhaai Ho, according to a press release. "The sleeper hit jointly produced by Junglee pictures and Chrome pictures had a dream run at the box office with 100 glorious days in theatres, not to mention Global collections of more than Rs 200 crore. Boney Kapoor who put his faith in the director and launched him in Tevar has now bought the rights of Badhaai Ho directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, to remake it for the South market," read the statement. 

Boney is currently collaborating with Amit for his next sports drama with Ajay Devgn and Keerthy Suresh, which is a biopic based on the football player and coach Syed Abdul Rahim. "Producer Boney Kapoor was the first to put his faith in Amit who at the time was a celebrated ad filmmaker. Now that his recent film Badhaai Ho went on to achieve blockbuster status, Boney will be taking the film to the South market," the statement added. 

Boney Kapoor is presently bankrolling Thala Ajith's Nerkonda Paarvai, an official Tamil remake of Hindi superhit Pink and will also produce Ajith's next untitled film Thala 60, which is touted to be a commercial actioner. Nerkonda Paarvai is produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLC and Zee Studios, who also own the satellite and digital rights for the film. The shooting for the project will go non-stop until mid-April before the team takes a quick break for the Parliamentary elections.
