Speculations about Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan to be back with the third installment of the Don franchise have been rife for the longest time. Every time the filmmaker would make an appearance, the one question that has been constantly asked to him by the media as well as the fans is, when is Don 3 happeneing?
While a few reports had earlier stated that Farhan Akhtar is working on the script for Don 3, in the recent past several reports surfaced saying that Shah Rukh Khan is likely to be replaced by Ranveer Singh and Farhan's sister Zoya Akhtar may take the director's chair for Don 3. However, both Zoya and Farhan had rubbished the rumours earlier this year.
Now, if recent reports are anything to go by, then Farhan is apparently planning to rope in Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist in the much anticipated Don 3. While there hasn't been any confirmation on the same from either the filmmaker or the actor, multiple reports doing the rounds suggest that Ranbir is likely to replace Shah Rukh in the third installment of the much loved Don franchise, the first two parts of which were written, directed and produced by Farhan himself.
After the debacle of Shah Rukh Khan's ambitious project Zero, he has not announced any new projects yet. Recently, several reports had suggested that SRK may collaborate with Rajkumar Hirani for a film which is to be produced by Shah Rukh's production house Red Chillies and directed by Hirani.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is currently shooting for the second season of his show 'Ted Talks' while Ranbir is busy filming some of the final portions of Brahmastra in Varanasi.
