Varun Dhawan’s envy-inducing stardom has seen a gravity-defying graph in the last six years, since his charming debut in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year (2012).
No wonder, the supernova has time and again been hailed as the talent powerhouse — thanks to his ability to strike that elusive balance between commercial films and offbeat offerings. Something which his contemporaries have struggled with. He has proved his mettle in mainstream cinema (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2) and also made his presence felt in middle-of-the-road films like Badlapur and October.
Besides his Godfather Karan Johar and his other mentor Sajid Nadiadwala, the dishy dude is exploring newer pastures with the third big daddy, Aditya Chopra in Sui Dhaaga. He has also made himself available for a dance film directed by Remo D’souza. B-Town corridors are abuzz with this latest development. One’s wont to ask — why did this happen? A trade source says, “Varun has been lapped up for a staggering price for the dance film in which he teams up with Katrina Kaif. He will reportedly be paid Rs 32 cr!”
Incidentally, the reported price for Kat in this film is Rs 7 cr while Remo will allegedly get paid Rs 12 cr.
The movie, which is being planned on a huge canvas in 4D format, is meant to ‘push the envelope’ as far as dance flicks go in Bollywood. And Varun’s soaring popularity and virtuoso dancing skills are likely to inject a mega-wattage spunk in this film that will go on floors later this year.
