A case has been filed against Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha and four others for allegedly not performing at an event in Delhi after having accepted payment for the same, ANI reported. The company claims that Sonakshi’s absence has caused a great deal of damage to their reputation. Apparently, the spectators present at the show were so annoyed at the actress’ absence that they vandalised the venue.
According to the complainant, Sonakshi had agreed to be a part of his show in Delhi on September 30 and even accepted Rs 37 lakh for the same. However, she refused to turn up at the last minute, he added.
The news first emerged in November last year. Pramod Sharma, the owner of a Moradabad event firm named India Fashion and Beauty Award, claimed to pay Sonakshi Rs 28.17 lakh in June (in four installments through electronic transfer) to perform at the company’s award show in Delhi.
It was reported that he spent Rs 9 lakh more on the commission of two event companies associated with Sonakshi and in arranging for her accommodation and travel.
However, despite having accepted the payment, Sonakshi did not show up at the event. It was reported that Sonakshi had released promotional videos of the award show after accepting the payment. But, on the day of the show, she cancelled her 10am flight and got two seats booked on the 3pm flight but never came to the event.
"I tried convincing her (Sonakshi) a lot to perform at the event and even told her that I will incur huge losses if she doesn't come, but she refused to perform," he told ANI.
Moradabad DSP Gajraj Singh said an FIR has been lodged against the 'Dabanng' star and three others on charges of cheating.
Investigation in the case is underway.
Sonakshi and her legal team are yet to respond to the case.
