Recently, Shraddha Kapoor opted for a blue-green check-printed jacket and trousers while promoting her upcoming actioner, Saaho. Just two days after that, she opted for a midi-dress in the pattern. Not too long ago, leggy lass Kriti Sanon sashayed at the airport in a plaid bralette and mini skirt. For Kangana Ranaut, it was a shirt paired with denim shorts during an outing.
From a seasoned style maven like Karisma Kapoor, who rocked a co-ord set of high-waist pants and a blazer, to a newbie like Janhvi Kapoor, the pattern has had a number of takers. The Dhadak girl opted for a purple and yellow trousers with a crop top at a movie screening. Sunny Leone was snapped in baggy pants and black crop top as she picked her kids up recently.
Delhi-based stylist Anuj Lalwani says about the plaid print’s popularity, “Checks are eye-catching prints that can make anyone stand out in a crowd.” Designer Nachiket Barve concurs, “Just like polka dots, it is trending right now.”
Interestingly, the pattern finds its way in as different garbs as shirts, trousers, skirts and dresses. Anuj gives tips about wearing it, “Plaid skirts look fresh and sporty with a pair of white kicks and tee. You can add a stole or a vibrant dupatta for street style.” He states that one can even wear ripped denim with a shirt. “Also stylish earrings or big jhumkas will make one’s look more attractive,” he says. Nachiket adds that plaid goes well with solid colours as well as floral designs. “But if you wear it with stripes or polka, it will clash. So, one should avoid that,” he adds.
