Ayan Mukerji took to his Instagram page and announced that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Brahmastra' will not be released in Christmas 2019.

Ayan Mukerji will be foraying into the fantasy genre with his upcoming directorial titled Brahmastra. The film marks the first outing of real-life couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on the big screen. Brahmastra was set to initially supposed to release on August 15, 2019. But then it was postponed to Christmas 2019, citing incompletion of the shoot. Looks like, we won't get to see Brahmastra this year at all, according to Ayan's latest Instagram post.

The filmmaker shared a note in which he revealed that Ranbir and Alia's Brahmastra will now be released in Summer 2020. An interesting fact is that Ayan's announcement came a day after Salman Khan announced the release date of Dabangg 3. Yes, the third instalment of Dabangg franchise is coming out on December 20, 2019. Salman shared a poster and wrote, "Chulbul is back..... #Dabangg3 @aslisona @arbaazkhanofficial @nikhildwivedi25 @prabhudheva @skfilmsofficial"

While, a source stated to DNA After Hrs, "There is a more practical reason. If Brahmastra doesn’t release in December 2019, it will be mainly because its shooting is likely to go on till October. After this, the sci-fi thriller will get into post-production, which may take longer because the film is heavily dependent on VFX. In the past, every movie with heavy-duty visual effects has had to keep a buffer period due to the nature of the work involved."
