Renowned Bollywood actress Sridevi passed away in Dubai today at the age of 54 following a cardiac arrest. She was in the UAE to attend Mohit Marwah and Antara Motiwala’s wedding along with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor. Her elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor couldn’t attend the festivities as she was busy shooting for her debut film, Dhadak in Mumbai.
In a striking resemblance, Boney Kapoor’s ex-wife and Arjun Kapoor’s mother Mona Shourie had passed away at 48. Like Sridevi could not see her daughter’s debut in Bollywood, Arjun’s mother too could not get to see her son’s debut film, Ishaqzaade. Arjun’s film released in May 2012 whereas Mona Shourie passed away on March 25, 2012 and incidentally, Sridevi passed away a few months ahead of Janhvi’s debut in July.
Talking about his mother, Arjun had earlier said in an interview after the release of Ishaqzaade, “She was undergoing chemotherapy, losing her hair and taking care of herself. And she had survived all that and celebrated her birthday on February 3 and then suddenly, she collapsed in front of me in my arms on March 25. Her cancer had spread to the brain and even though doctors had told us that she had six months, she died all of a sudden.”
We cannot help but notice that tragedy has struck Boney Kapoor’s home once again. Sridevi’s demise has not only come as a shock to her fans and the film fraternity but is a loss to one and all. She was also very excited for Janhvi’s debut and was guiding her throughout.
