Salman Khan has kick-started the shoot of Dabangg 3 in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. The third film of the supercop franchise is apparently a prequel as it focusses on the beginnings of Chulbul Pandey. Besides tracing the history of his character, it looks like the schedule has also taken the Bollywood superstar down memory lane as he returned to his roots.

A day before the film went on floors, Salman and his brother Arbaaz landed in Indore, which is their birthplace. What makes this shoot more special for the Khandaan is the fact that the actor’s grandfather Abdul Rashid Khan, who was an officer in the then Indian Imperial Police, was posted as the DIG in Maheshwar for 12 years.

Salman’s dad Salim Khan, too, has ties with the town. Like the Race 3 actor, the veteran writer also was born in Indore and often visited his father in Maheshwar, along with his siblings during school holidays.

Obviously, the Khan brothers got nostalgic when they reached their birthplace. They shared their excitement online. In a video that he shared, Salman said, “Arbaaz and I have just landed in Indore where we were both born. Then we are going to Mandleshwar and Maheshwar to shoot for Dabangg where our grandfather was posted when he was in the police force (sic).”
