Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's pre-wedding ceremonies took place at the ultra-luxurious CastaDiva Resort and Villa d' Este

The catchy beats of 'London Thumakda' and 'Dama Dum Mast Kalandar' reverberated around the idyllic surrounds of Lake Como on Tuesday as Bollywood's power couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone celebrated their Mehendi and Sangeet ceremonies ahead of their wedding.

Ranveer's event took place at the ultra-luxurious CastaDiva Resort overlooking Lake Como while Deepika's ceremony took place at the even more glamorous Villa d' Este about 5 kilometers away. A source informed a leading portal that the groom made a dhamakedaar entry singing his popular number Tune maari entriyaan. Songs like Mehndi Ni Mehndi, Dholak, Kala Shah Kala, Mehendi Hai Rachney Wali were also played.

Another source present at the ring ceremony of Deepika and Ranveer told Filmfare how the guests were personally greeted at the venue with a hand-written note. Deepika looked splendid in her exquisite ensemble while Ranveer as always stole hearts with his energy. When Deepika and Ranveer exchanged rings, the bride, Deepika got all emotional and one could see tears of joy rolling down her eyes.

Talking about their mehendi celebrations, an insider told Pinkvilla, “While Deepika got done a designer Mehendi, Ranveer Too has got done a little design on the hand with #DeepVeer written!”

“The ambience at the event was electric. Ranveer Singh has enjoyed the most at the Mehendi ceremony. [Ranveer] danced his heart out while his lady love was busy getting the Mehendi done. Old songs were being played. First Shubha Mudgal performed, followed by Harshdeep Kaur. Romantic songs, ghazals and sufi songs were performed. Followed by a performance by Ranveer. He also danced on the beats of dhol,” the source shared.

Here's the picture that Harshdeep Kaur posted on Instagram but later deleted -

As per ANI, security at both venues is on a par with that provided for a meeting of world leaders. At the CastaDiva resort for instance, any and all guests or visitors have to present a special wrist band while security guards cover up the camera lenses on mobile phones with stickers. On the lake itself, numerous security boats patrol just outside the perimeter of the property to deter snooping photographers or gossip hunters.

In fact, the local authorities have warned boat rental companies from renting out boats for anyone from outside town. Attempts by the ANI reporter to rent a powerboat were repeatedly stymied. Rental company owners say they have been asked to make strict inquiries as to the purpose of the renters.

In a town that relies heavily on boating and sailing, no one is willing to take visitors on to the water, especially the area surrounding Villa Del Balbianello, the 13thCentury villa where the main wedding will take place over two days starting Wednesday. It is understandable given how the entire economy of Lake Como is so dependent on the world's rich and famous who value their privacy.
