Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se

The third instalment of the Deol franchise has been deferred and will now come on August 31.

This Independence Day there was going to be a three-way clash at the ticket windows. Akshay Kumar’s Gold, John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Satyameva Jayate and Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol’s Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se, were all slated to release on August 15.

However, the third instalment of the Deol franchise has been deferred and will now come on August 31. In an official statement, Sunny said, “August 15 has two patriotic films Gold and Satyameva Jayate, which are topical for the day and on August 24, we have our family friend Anil Sharma’s son, Utkarsh, being launched, who has our blessings. Our film is a wholesome family entertainer. Hence, we have decided to release YPD: Phir Se two weeks later on August 31, 2018.” Anil Sharma’s friendship with the Deols goes back a long way. Not only has he worked with the three individually but also brought them together for the first time with Apne. Moreover, he’s also given Sunny his biggest hit in the Partition saga, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001).
