In August, Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, had told After Hrs that she wanted a traditional Indian wedding for her beti. “That’s my only wish,” she had added. That was fulfilled on Sunday when PC and Nick Jonas tied the knot as per Hindu customs in Jodhpur. Earlier on Saturday, they became man and wife according to Christian rituals.

For the Hindu nuptials, the haldi ceremony took place in the afternoon. The Quantico actress reportedly wore bright shades of yellow and orange, which were in sync with the occasion. They also participated in ‘Kangna Bandhana’, where a sacred thread is tied around the wrist of the bride and the groom as a good luck charm. Apart from this, the family held the chooda and kalire ceremony as per Punjabi traditions. Priyanka was then handed her wedding outfit. She apparently opted for a red ensemble whereas the singer-songwriter settled for a gold sherwani.

In the evening, Nick entered the venue on a horse-drawn carriage. The baaraat began at the front porch of the Umaid Bhawan Palace and moved to the Baradari Lawns, where the jodi got married according to Hindu rituals. Pandit Chandrashekar, who is a native of Pali, was flown in especially from Bengaluru with a team of five other Hindu priests for the ceremony.

After the nuptials, the families will relax for a while and then fly off to Delhi tonight for the reception that will be held at the Taj Palace Hotel tomorrow. The wedding contingent will reach the capital a day early, to check the arrangements. However, a few guests will stay back in Jodhpur and enjoy a desert safari that the couple has planned before heading for the do in Delhi.
