For his upcoming release, Kedarnath, in which Sushant Singh Rajput plays a pithoo (a porter), the actor shopped for clothes in the local markets of the pilgrimage town. The film, which marks the debut of Sara Ali Khan, is a love story set in the backdrop of the Uttarakhand flash floods. Director Abhishek Kapoor is particular about not only shooting at real locations, but also paying attention to details like the dialect and costumes.
To ensure that Sushant looked like a real pithoo, Abhishek made sure that they sourced locally-trending clothes. The duo spent a day shopping for costumes at Tilwada Bazaar and nearby areas, which are popular among devotees and travellers. Since the pithoos have to go up and down the hill carrying a person, they have to wear rough and stretchable jerseys and pants, which is what Sushant is seen sporting in the trailer.
Says Abhishek, “We bought the costumes from where real pithoos buy them. This helped Sushant to adapt to the character. The same outfits were used in the film for many sequences.”
