Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit's hit film 'Dil' completed 31 years on Tuesday. The film revolved around Aamir and Madhuri as the leading pair who fell in love with each other and their struggles to be together.
The film was directed by Indra Kumar, written by Naushir Khatau and Kamlesh Pandey. It also became a hit because of its soundtrack and songs like 'Mujhe Neend Na Aaye' are still famous. The music was composed by Anand-Milind. It also helped Madhuri win her first ever Filmfare award.
Aamir Khan is famous for playing pranks with his co-stars while shooting with them, Madhuri was one of them. In 2008, Aamir had revealed in Farhan Akhtar's talk show 'Oye! It’s Friday', that while shooting for 'Dil', Aamir had spat on Madhuri's hand as a prank.
He further revealed that he faked a palm reading session with Madhuri by saying things like, “You are a very gullible person. You are very emotional. People can easily make a fool of you,” and then spat on her hand.
The prank had left Madhuri angry and she ran after Aamir with a hockey stick. She confirmed this in a Twitter Q&A session in 2016 with her fans that it was the naughtiest thing she ever did on a film set. “The naughtiest thing I have done is I have chased Aamir Khan with a hockey stick on my sets of 'Dil' because he played a prank on me,” the actor wrote.
The film was a hit and later was made in many languages like Telugu in 1993 under the title 'Tholi Muddhu', starring Prashanth and Divya Bharti, in Odia as 'Agni Parikshya', starring Siddhanta Mahapatra & Anu Choudhury. Later. it was also remade in Bangladesh in 1997 under the title 'Amar Ghor Amar Beheshto'. The film was declared a blockbuster at the box office and the highest grosser of 1990.
