Farah Khan and Sajid Khan's mother Menka Irani passed away in Mumbai after a prolonged illness on Friday.
Popular Bollywood directors and siblings, Farah Khan and Sajid Khan's mother Menka Irani passed away at the age of 79 on Friday, July 26, in Mumbai. Mukesh Chhabra, Farah's good friend and casting director, confirmed the news to IndiaToday.in. Menka Irani had recently undergone multiple surgeries recently.
Menka Irani, who was the sister of actresses Daisy Irani and Honey Irani, had recently celebrated her 79th birthday on July 12. Farah and Sajid had taken to their Instagram accounts and penned a birthday wish for her. The Housefull director shared a photo with him, his sister Farah, and their mother with the latter's birthday cake and wrote, "Happy Birthday mummy."
The Main Hoon Na director had shared a couple of photos with her mother and mentioned about her failing health. "We all take our mothers for granted, especially me! This last month has been a revelation on how much I love my mom Menka. She's been the strongest, bravest person I have ever seen...sense of humour intact even after multiple surgeries. Happy birthday mom! Today’s a good day to come back home, can’t wait for you to get strong enough to start fighting with me again..I love you."
Farah Khan has spoken about the struggles she, Sajid, and her mother had to face after her father's death. Farah and Sajid's father was Kamran Khan, a stuntman-turned-filmmaker. Talking to Radio Nasha, she had said, "I belonged to a filmy family, but by the time I turned five, we were the poor cousins. We’d lost all our money, dad’s film had flopped. We had a riches-to-rags story. So, they (rest of the family) were all rocking, and we were the charity cases. Sajid and me and our mother were the charity cases. But, of course, they were very nice to us. They let us stay in their house."
Multiple Bollywood celebrities such as Rani Mukerji, Neelam Kothari Soni, Seema Sajdeh, Fardeen Khan, Maniesh Paul, Vikram Phadnis, and Salim Khan among others have reached Farah Khan's home to pay their final respects to her mother.
