Director Ali Abbas Zafar recently announced his marriage with girlfriend Alicia via a social media post, sharing a few pictures from the intimate wedding ceremony that took place at his Dehradun home earlier this week.
While fans kept guessing how Ali and Alicia met since no detail of their love story was out in the public, the filmmaker recently opened up about these same to a media portal.
In an interview with ETimes, Ali revealed that though his wedding was planned for 2022, his parents testing COVID positive made him change his mind and bring the wedding date ahead.
Opening up about his hush-hush ceremony with Alicia, Ali told E Times, "Mom and Dad had tested COVID positive, so I had to bring the marriage date ahead. They are growing old and wanted me to get married. Otherwise, the wedding was planned for 2022."
During the conversation, Ali also made a surprising revelation.
On being asked if his wife was in the Salman Khan-Disha Patani song 'Slow Motion' from his film 'Bharat', the director relief in the affirmative. "That's right," he said.
Alicia is seen matching steps with lead actress Disha Patani as a background dancer in the hit dance number. Her flawless moves are something you can't miss to watch.

Speaking further about Alicia and how he met her, Ali told the portal, "Alicia is an Iranian based in France. In fact, she's born and brought up there. The shift was understandably not an easy decision for her at all. But I kept pursuing because I felt that she was the only one I wanted to start a family with. I introduced her to my mother on Christmas, 2020 and the marriage took place on January 3, 2021, at my Dehradun house. It was a very private affair. My brother who stays in London could not attend due to the pandemic but we ensured that he got to witness it online."
Digressing from his personal life and speaking about work, about Mr India, he said, "It will be a collaboration between Boney Kapoor and Zee. We shall be shooting in India and abroad as well. A large part of it will be on the sets as it will be very heavy on special effects. But, it has got nothing to do with Anil Kapoor's 'Mr India'; it's a new sci-fi film, with a big budget and high production values. We want to create characters like the 'Avengers'. This 'Mr India' will be of international standards."
On not being on-board as a director for the upcoming film 'Tiger 3', the filmmaker said he wasn't upset. He added that producer Aditya Chopra is like a brother to him and Yash Raj Films is like his family.
"I was involved with too many commitments; I am yet to approach the Katrina Kaif superhero film. The invasion of COVID has slowed down most things, and even now, the pace is not what it used to be like before," Ali concluded.
