The past few weeks have been troublesome for actor Kartik Aaryan. After getting ousted from Karan Johar produced 'Dostana 2', it was reported that the actor lost out on a film produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment titled ‘Freddie’. Earlier this week there were reports that Kartik was dropped from an Aanand L Rai production.
Now, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has stood up for Kartik and said his ouster is a “concerted campaign” against the actor, calling it a “very bloody affair”. He added that when an actor is dropped from a movie, the producers don’t go around talking about it.
Taking to Twitter, Sinha wrote, “And by the way... when Producers drop Actors or vice versa they don't talk about it. It happens all the time. This campaign against Kartik Aryarn seems concerted to me and very bloody unfair. I respect his quiet.”
The ‘Pati Patani Aur Woh’ actor is yet to speak on the matter and his fans have appreciated his silence. Many even pointed the similarities between the harassment faced by late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and what is now reportedly happening with Kartik Aaryan.
“When will the harrassment of self made up actors stop in Bollywood. Why can't Nepotism gang stop bothering them. Why can't we bycot Nepo gang movies,” wrote one user.
Another wrote, “Well in the past we use to grab Mayapuri, stardust etc to read gossips and now we see it played out on social media. Then, most of them turned out to be just gossips or in today’s world “opinions”. I’m happy to see @TheAaryanKartik being quiet on these news/rumors.”
Earlier, a source told Hindustan Times, “The fact that Karan dropped Kartik seems to have influenced others. So, this could be the third instance where Kartik may be losing out on getting to work with an established filmmaker like Aanand.”
The film is reported of a gangster genre and Aanand's assistant was set to direct it. When the portal asked Rai about it, he shared, "As a production house, we work on several scripts and pitch it to actors — that’s the process. Actors keep meeting you, you keep telling them what you are working on, they express their desire to collaborate. And then, depending upon the subject, you decide if you should approach them. But that doesn’t mean you have signed them.”
In April, without even mentioning Kartik's name Dharma Productions issued a statement that read as "Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence - we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon."
