Fukrey 3 is a worthy third part of the successful comedy franchise but suffers from comparisons with its illustrious predecessors.

Cast: Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chadha

Where to watch: Theatres

Rating: 3.5 stars

The fukra gang is back for their third adventure. Fukrey 3 is the much-awaited sequel to Fukrey and Fukrey Returns and something fans of the franchise were waiting for. And even if you are not a fan and have not watched the first two parts, you will still find it enjoyable. The film begins with a recap of the first two parts for those who came in late.

Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha) and Choocha (Varun Sharma) are in a race to win an election. Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Lali (Manjot Singh), and Pandit (Pankaj Tripathi), who run their retail outlet in Delhi, are wary of Bholi's malicious intentions. So they prop Choocha up as their candidate.

Fukrey 3 starts really well. The first twenty minutes will make you feel nostalgic. While watching the film, I heard someone saying ‘sab yaad aagya (recalled everything)’. The USP of Fukrey 3 is that this is a film that you can watch with your family. The situations are funny but clean and the dialogue will leave you in splits. In today's times, there are a few films that we can watch with family and Fukrey 3 ticks that checkbox. Director Mrighdeep Lamba has made sure that the narrative does not have anything that can make someone uncomfortable.

But despite being a complete family entertainer, Fukrey is worth a one-time watch at the most. The film is slow as some of the scenes and subplots look forced, which adds to the lethargy of the narrative. In most parts, the actors have added life to even dull scenes with their performances. But the film falters because the bar had already been set high by the first two parts.

This time, the spotlight is on Varun Sharma's character with others like Pulkit and Manjot having less to do. Varun’s innocence will melt your heart, he looks innocent and sweet in the film. His performance justifies why the makes chose to make him more central to the story here. The actor was able to bring his character's gullibility to screen easily.

Pulkit Samrat’s expressions are always on point. The actor has done justice to his role despite having less to do as compared to Varun and Richa in the film. Richa Chadha as the tough-talking female don Bholi Punjaban never disappoints. The actress is the highlight of the film. She is very confident while playing the character as if she also knows that this role is only for her. Her energy in Fukrey 3 is unmatchable.

As always, Pankaj Tripathi is so real that it seems nothing can go wrong if he is there. He will make you laugh with his impeccable comic timing even in the more serious scenes. He is effortlessly amazing and funny. Manjot Singh's performance is commendable, bringing out the angry young man. Even though he has fewer lines but he made sure to bring energy to the film.

You will not like the film if you try to find the logic behind the story, but you will definitely love Fukrey 3 if you want to laugh and not want to use your brain while watching the film.
