Actor Amit Sadh talks about his love for football and the poor state of the game in India.

Actor Amit Sadh, like a lot other football fans has been following the ongoing football FIFA World Cup intimately.

While talking about his passion for the sport, the actor told TOI, "I have been passionate about football since childhood. In fact, this World Cup has been one of the most unpredictable ever, with the smaller countries making a mark."

The eye-candy also went on to say that while growing up, he was a "big fan" of Diego Maradona and Gabriel Batistuta, and he has always supported Argentina.

"Growing up, I was a big fan of Diego Maradona and Gabriel Batistuta. Argentina was the team that I always supported. However, this year, I was disappointed with their performance. I feel sorry for (Lionel) Messi, because there was a lot of burden on him," Amit added, as quoted by the news daily.

Now Amit is rooting for France. "France is a young team with some great players and they are playing as a team," he said.

Amit, however, is sad about the fact that though football is popular among the Indian youth, the Indian footballers do not get their due.

He added, "I was over at a friend's house, and there were four kids who were discussing Messi and (Cristiano Ronaldo. I asked them if they knew the neames of Indian footballers, but they knew only about Sunil Chhettri and Baichung Bhutia."

This incident, Amit sadh said, made him realise that we have failed in making the true essence of football.

Amit will next be seen in Akshay Kumar starrer Gold, which is slated to release on August 15.
