Roughly a week before the film's release, the makers of 'Gold' launched yet another song titled 'Monobina' on Tuesday. Sung by a mix of young singers Yasser Desai, Shashaa Tirupati, Monali Thakur, Farhad Bhiwandiwala and picturised on the film's lead couple - Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy - the song takes you back to the sepia-toned era with its foot-tapping western beats and carefree dance moves.
Composed by Tanishk Bagchi, the dance number sees Tapan Das (Akshay) coaxing his beloved Bengali wife Monobina (Mouni) into dancing. And, it's the best situational song we have seen in a long time. The choreography is flawless and so is Akshay and Mouni's chemistry.
Mouni Roy is endearing as a reserved Bengali wife as she unleashes the dancer within her in this peppy number. Akshay wins your heart with his funny antics. The composition has a celebratory tone to it throughout which makes 'Monobina' a valid addition to our playlist of happy dance numbers like 'Galla Goodiyaan' (Dil Dhadakne Do) and 'Slow Motion Angreza' (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag).
What makes this stand apart from the film's previous song, 'Chad Gayi Hai', is the fact that we get to see Mouni's killer thumkas in this one.
