Ranveer Singh as Naved Shaikh

Written by DIVINE and Ankur Tewari, the track will set the mood soaring.

After stirring up a storm with the teaser trailer, Ranveer Singh unveiled the first song from musical drama Gully Boy on Monday morning.

When the teaser dropped, the tagline -- 'Apna Time Aayega' -- became the viral trend of the day. The new 2.10-seconds-long track is the elaborated look into that philosophy.

The song starts off with Naved (Ranveer Singh) getting a morale boost from a friend to let his true story become the verse and explode. Cut to Ranveer spit the words written by DIVINE (Vivian Fernandes) and Ankur Tewari that read,

"Uth ja apni raakh se

Tu ud ja ab talaash mein

Parwaaz dekh parwaane ki

Aasmaan bhi sar uthaayega

Aayega Apna Time Aayega"

By the time you reach the hook, you are on a trippy ride to raise the hand and jump along to the beats provided by Dub Sharma.

The line -- Kyonki apna time aayega,/ Tu nanga hi toh aaya hai kya ghanta le kar jaayega -- should be enough to send you looking for the original works of Dub Sharma and DIVINE.

The first song of the soundtrack packs a punch and showcases potential enough to make mainstream composers take notice and give 'asli hip-hop' a chance on the platform dominated by candyfloss dose of pop-tinted rapping.

Written by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the movie also stars Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. Gully Boy is set to release on Valentine's Day 2019.
