His role will have shades of grey

Gautam Rode, who became a household name playing the quintessential good boy Saras in the TV show Saraswatichandra, will be essaying a role with grey shades in his upcoming film Aksar 2. This is a first for the actor, who has always played positive characters in serials, be it in Mahakumbh where his character had superpowers, which he puts to good use, or Suryaputra Karn in which he essayed the title role.

Says Gautam, “I’ve tried something new for the first time with the film. The characters I’ve played so far have been righteous and used to follow a path. This guy in Aksar 2 has his flaws. He doesn’t play by the book. He’s not a bad guy but an opportunist and a diplomat. He doesn’t deal with situations like a regular guy, which was a challenge for me. The multi-layered character is what interested me.”

Gautam plays an investment banker and for the role, the actor lost around six kilos. “He is always seen in formals, so I wanted to achieve a lean look,” says the actor adding that the film is a suspense drama and not an erotic thriller as it is perceived to be.
