Phantom Films

Photom Films, started by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena in 2011 is shutting sown forever

In what is nothing less than shocking, production house- Phantom Films is headed for a dissolution.

The production house, first started in the year 2011 by four noted and like-minded filmmakers and producers- Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena, is now shutting down, after seven years.

The first film produced by the production house was Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Lootera. While the film wasn’t a big success in terms of box-office, it received a lot of critical acclaim and put Ranveer on the map as a good actor.

After that, Phantom Films and the filmmakers have produced and directed several films under the banner, including Gangs of Wasseypur, Queen, Masaan, Udta Punjab and others which have not only performed well at the box-office, but have also garnered acclaim and appreciation. These films have also done exceedingly well at various international film festivals, including in Toronto and Busan.

To add to this, Phantom Films also produced the hugely successful first season of Sacred Games, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The show was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, along with Anurag Kashyap, and the second season of the has already been announced.

However, with the dissolution, the fate of season 2 looks uncertain.

But why have the four parted ways?

Even though the four partners have maintained that they will continue to share a cordial relationship, according to a report by Pinkvilla, the major differences between them started post the sexual harassment allegations against Vikas Bahl.

According to sources, as quoted by the website, “The four started having ego issues post that and the last nail in the coffin was when Anurag recently commented that he is not on talking terms with Vikas and that despite being in the same company, they work separately. Post this, they decided to part ways for real.”

While announcing the same earlier, Anurag Kashyap took to his Twitter and wrote, “Phantom was a dream, a glorious one and all dreams come to an end . We did our best and we succeeded and we failed. But i know for sure we will come out of this stronger, wiser and will continue to pursue our dreams our own individual ways. We wish each other the best.”

Vikramaditya Motwane too shared a post on Twitter, where he recalls how amazing the journey with his three partners has been. He also went on to say that Vikas, Anurag and Madhu have been his family and have been by him through thick and thin. The director also wished all three of them the best in life.

Madhu Mantena (Trapped) also announced the same on his Twitter handle. He said that even though Photom Films has come to an end, it is by far the best thing that has happened to him.

Phatom Films last produced the Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal starrer Manmarziyaan.
