Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and Sonu Sood as Sadashiv, was initially slated to release this year, but will open in the cinemas on the Republic Day weekend in 2019.

Since its announcement, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi has been piquing curiosity amongst the cinegoers. Backed by Zee Studios, this Krissh directorial starring Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and Sonu Sood as Sadashiv, was initially slated to release this year, but will open in the cinemas on the Republic Day weekend in 2019.

We have it from inside sources that the release has been shifted due to extensive VFX work. Apparently, Manikarnika has about 3,200 Computer Graphic (CG) shots.

Interestingly, till a few months ago, it was Padmaavat that was spoken of for its extensive CG work. But Manikarnika reportedly is said to have about 300-400 more CG shots than the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. And in a bid to not compromise on the quality, the makers have given a bigger time window to complete the extensive VFX.
