Irrfan Khan will be back on silver screen with 'Hindi Medium 2'

As selfish as we may sound, but National Film Award winner Irrfan Khan's public statement a few months back which revealed that he is battling with cancer, not only broke our heart because the Piku actor was going through physical and mental trauma, but also because we thought that we won't be able to see the lovely actor that often on the silver screen. 

After the actor made the announcement in March that he will be undergoing treatment for a Neuroendocrine tumour in London, he has dropped out of two projects– the untitled Vishal Bhardwaj film with Deepika Padukone and political satire series titled Gormint. 

But today we have some good news for all the Irrfan Khan fans! 

According to a report by Bollywoodlife.com, looks like Irrfan has given his nod to star in Hindi Medium 2. 

Yes, you heard that right! But this news not just calls for a celebration because the actor has agreed to do the film, but also because it looks like his health is getting better. 

For the uninitiated, the sequel of Hindi Medium was confirmed in February 2018, with Homi Adajania on board to direct it. 

Following the announcement, the news about Irrfan Khan’s health surfaced which seemingly put the project on the backburner. 

But now everything is coming back on the track. 

A source told the website that the makers of the film flew down to London to meet Irrfan and that the narration of the script was held there. 

The meeting resulted in Irrfan Khan deciding to do Hindi Medium 2 and we are more than excited! 

Hindi Medium sequel will be produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.

The plot will flashforward 10 years and narrate the next part of the story of the Hindi loving Raj, the character played by Irrfan.

Hindi Medium which released in 2017 was a sleeper hit, but at IIFA 2018, Irrfan Khan was honoured with the Best Actor award for his performance in the film.
