Dharma Productions' upcoming film directed by Abhishek Varman has been in the limelight ever since Madhuri Dixit stepped into late actress Sridevi's role.
While earlier reports suggested that Sanjay Dutt was approached to reunite with her 'Gumraah' co-star Sridevi in the film. But it now it seems, with Madhuri on-board, another actor and not Sanjay will play the male lead.
A source close to Deccan Chronicle revealed that Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor are being considered for the role now. ''Jackie, who has been paired opposite Madhuri in several films, is being considered as the next option in case Anil doesn’t manage to adjust his dates. Anil has been very excited by a digital project, and may have to let that go if he signs this movie. So, he’s in two minds,'' the source said.
The film also features Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead. Reportedly, Varun and Aditya will be playing brothers, whereas Madhuri will be seen playing Alia's mother.
While the film was touted to be called Shiddat, Karan Johar recently took to his Twitter account to clarify that the film with Madhuri Dixit, which is Abhishek Varman’s next is not yet titled. “Some clarifications!!! Yes...we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!,” he posted.
